The iPhone Has Sold... Now What?
I vowed today that I would take the day off from blogging, and it started out that way for a while. I spent most of the time on the phone with my buddy Scott from Jamster who stood in line in San Fran since 3PM yesterday. But he kept me posted on things so that I could share in the excitement.
So now that people have scurried away with their iPhones, what do we do now? I'm guessing wait until next week when people start finding out what they really paid for. So far these are the things that I've heard:
- The sim cannot be removed, so you can't switch sims. Kind of like having a CDMA phone isn't it.
- You can't use the touch screen with gloves on.... hmmm this sounds like an opportunity for an Apple iPhone winter accessory.
- We all knew about the battery issue... but IF the battery dies you have to either send it to Apple for replacement or go to the Apple store. If you have to send it out and its your only phone, how the hell are you supposed to make calls?
Ok, I think its time for me to go to bed now.

hey ive got a new n76 and its just been 2 weeks and it seems like the metallic silver color might peel off. So what should i do ?
Well I got one. Haven't scurried away tho...
To your questions:
1. The SIM can be removed quite easily. It can be used in any other device. You cannot put another SIM into the iPhone however.
2. Apple is offering a $29 loaner phone while the battery is being replaced ($79). Pop the SIM from your phone, insert in the loaner and sync up all your stuff. Pricey, but there it is.
3. It's a wicked cool device but definitely 1.0 territory. It'll be interesting to see how quickly and frequently they push updates now that it's launched. I fully expect that when Leopard ships in October this will be a much more useful device.
4. I am using my N95 for business, productivity, and photo/video work. The iPhone is for personal stuff (calls, SMS, surfing) and media consumption via iTunes and YouTube (which is very fast, even on EDGE).
Happy to answer any questions you might have.
Thanks for clearing that up!! Not that it made the iPhone any more appealing to me. :)
So loaner phones will only be offered by Apple and not AT&T?
